Rain is usually associated with all that is wrong in our lives. And why not? Dark, dreary clouds accompany the rain. And soon you have the thunder, lightning, and wind that puts everything around you in upheaval. Then there are those like me who have so much physical pain each time it rains. So it's easy to understand why rain and dancing make an odd couple.
When we find ourselves in the middle of one of life's storms it's hard to remember who really is in control. We've all had those storms where the rain was so fast and furious that we thought maybe it's time to start building an ark around here! Or maybe some thought it was time to just give up and drown in the flood waters. But thankfully, we don't have to build that ark or give up because the one who holds those rain clouds also holds each of us in His arms. He promises never to leave or forsake us. Deut. 31:6
Once I make up my mind to allow God to be in control of my life, whether it be filled with rain or sun, it is much easier to face those storm clouds which are sure to come. And who knows maybe...just maybe...I can start facing those rainy days with the same exuberance as Mr. Kelly.
Just in case you have never seen Gene Kelly sing and dance in the rain here is the video clip. Enjoy. And next time we have a downpour maybe I'll meet you on the sidewalk...Dancin' in the Rain:)
